Baby Shots

Today my baby got her first shots. Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!! How heartbreaking for me. It took me back to when my toddler got her shots. It's so hard to watch your child in pain, knowing that its for the best, but still knowing that it hurts them. She turned beet red and pushed out her little bottom lip. She looked to me like "mommy please help," and there was nothing that I could do but try to soothe her as much as I could. I asked the nurse how she does this all day. Her response was that she never looks the child in the eyes, otherwise she would never be able to do it. The pediatric clinic was completely full with everyone getting shots for school. I was so nervous, even though I had been down this road before with my toddler. And to think I have to go through this in 2 more months again.......with BOTH girls getting shots

  1. I feel your pain! When my first was a baby, I had PPD but didn't know it. When she got her shots, I cried more than she did. It was awful!

I'm following you from MBC Under 100 Club. I look forward to reading more!

  3. Ask your doctor about the cream that numbs the area before getting shots. It's a prescription and it has to be applied at home about 30 min before shot time. Our doctor told us about this and it made life SO much easier for all of us.
